Cantabs 39 - 8 Norwich Crusaders

Cantabs battled hard to produce a comfortable victory against fellow EC1 team, Norwich Crusaders. The away fixture earlier in the season is now fondly known as 'The Somme at Crusaders' due to the appaling conditions.

Front-row force fired Cantabrigian to a 39-8 victory over Crusaders in Eastern Counties One.

Prop John Perks scored two tries and hooker Cyril Journeux and prop Charlie Searle got one apiece, while Chris Walliker, Francois Eve and Keith Ryan also touched down. Ali McCormick kicked two conversions.

Skipper Walliker said: "It was an excellent win with seven tries and two conversions. I thought we played really well - the first half especially, which I think was the best we've played this season.

"We had the bonus point by half time. It was a really good game. The break-down to give us the quick ball was key.

"It was mainly because we were given ball straight from the ruck. Dean James at No 9 played very well because, as soon as we blew the rucks out, the ball had gone to the backs."
