Old Brentwoods 5 - 59 Cantabs

Cantabrigian racked up 10 tries as they crushed Old Brentwoods 59-5 in their own backyard in the second round of the RFU Junior Vase.

Vice-captain Richard Ford, Francois Eve and Warren Cowan all notched two touchdowns apiece, while Jonny Heaver and Ali McCormick also bagged tries.

The rampant visitors went past a half-century of points on the day as half-time substitute Mike Houghton and Dean James, who picked up the man-of-the-match award for a solid display at scrum-half, touched down.

Chris Lovett added nine points with the boot.

"We told the lads to get in their faces and hammer home to them that we were here to play and win," said Ford. "We were putting in strong runs from midfield and plenty of big hits.

"It was difficult to keep our structure in the second half as there wasn’t a structure to play against.

"We tried to make it a training game to prepare for a couple of tough games we’ve got coming up in the league."
