Ground improvements at Sedley Taylor Road

Following the construction of new floodlights during the close season, all Saturday home fixtures for the 2019/20 season will kick-off at 15.00. The creation of match-standard floodlighting also allows a start time of 13.00 for all of our pre-match luncheons.Cost of the project was just over £57,000, with the RFU contributing £25,000 towards that total. The floodlighting improvements would not have been possible without the generous sponsorship of Countryside Properties and the lease of land from Hills Road Sixth Form College. With their help Cantabrigian RUFC can now offer improved training and playing facilities for our playing members.

Cantabs members will also notice the railings which have been constructed along the touchline on the banking side of the pitch to accommodate pitch-side promotion of sponsors. Ex captain, Jon Perks, provided the metal fabrication expertise and with a team of players assisting, the work was completed in time for the new season. You may also notice more of Perksy's handiwork around the field, with various training/torture apparatus having appeared throughout the winter. Hopefully, the new equipment has assisted our coaching team in the fitness preparation of the players for the start of this campaign.

With the assistance of tree surgeon, Eddie Richardson, we have also given the posts their first new coat of white paint for many a season. So, we are now ready for the new league season; the 1st XV are away to old friends West Norfolk on Saturday, but before that even our 2nd XV visit Saffron Walden on Friday evening.

Last but not least, if you are reading this, you will have noticed the new layout for our website. Thanks to James Hayward, Laurence Jones and Scott Jackson for their hard work in the construction of the new site.
